The Auas Mountains, the Christuskirche and the Tintenpalast: what is underneath a lap of the Namibia Cricket Ground.
The Namibia Cricket Ground opened in 2025 with 7,500 seats, Cricket Namibia’s own headquarters at last — and it was christened with a match against South Africa that Namibia won. The city sits in a bowl 1,700 m up in the Khomas Highland. The Auas Mountains run across the south, the Eros Mountains to the north-east, and the highland rolls away west.
In the centre stands the Christuskirche, a German Lutheran church consecrated in 1910, and the Tintenpalast — the Ink Palace, named for the paperwork inside it — which has housed parliament since 1913. On the hill above, the Independence Memorial Museum marks a country that only became one in 1990.
